Hi there! My name is Noah Israel נח ישראל
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology and Physiology from the University of Maryland: College Park. After working as an actor for a few years in D.C., I moved out to La Jolla, CA to pursue my MFA in Acting at UC San Diego with the La Jolla Playhouse.
As an artist, I’m interested in creating and supporting spaces where all aspects of our humanity are respected and welcomed. Spaces where stories that remain untold are elevated to a new societal awareness, even, and especially, when that requires tough conversations.
I am deeply passionate about reframing the Jewish narrative for our contemporary age; opening up our lens to include voices and stories from across the diaspora, because Jewish doesn’t equal white and there is more to us than the Holocaust and Fiddler on the Roof (it’s more of a “yes, and” situation, not a “no, but”). Additionally, it is beyond time that Jews are prioritized to play Jewish roles, as we live in a world where Jews are a targeted minority, and who has the privilege to tell those stories is defining how society engages with and views the Jewish people.
